Information About Our Users

In general, our service automatically gathers certain usage information like the numbers and frequency of visitors to www.bconline.gov.bc.ca and www.accessbc.com. We only use such data in the aggregate. This collective data helps us determine how much our users use parts of the sites, so we can improve our sites. We do not combine this information with other personally identifiable information to tell us who you are or even what your screen name or email address is.

Information About You

We may specifically ask for information about you when you sign up to use our service, or when you order a product. We will need certain information, such as name, Internet address or screen name, billing address, type of computer, and credit card number in order to provide that service or product to you.

Ordering Products

Our site's ordering system requires users to give us contact information (such as their name and email address), and financial information (such as their credit card numbers). We use contact information from the shipping information form to send the ordered product to the user. The contact information is also used to contact the user when necessary. Financial information that is collected is used to bill users for products they have ordered.

Security

For security of transactions, we use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, which encrypts information you send to us. This encryption process protects your personal information such as your name and credit card number. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot warrant the security of any transmission to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure its security in our systems.

Cookies

Our Web site may employ "cookies" to maintain proper process sequencing and customer information for the purposes of conducting a credit card transaction. If cookies are employed, they will be used solely for the purpose of successfully executing a credit card transaction and will not be used to surreptitiously gather information from your computer.

We provide the DATAFILES email newsletter to inform Web site users of changes to and new services offered on our Web site. The email address you submit to the mailing list is kept confidential. We will not use your email address for any purpose other than sending you the newsletter. The mailing list in its aggregate will not be disclosed. You can at any time opt out of the subscription.
